Paul Clough
Senior Lecturer, Information School, University of Sheffield
Paul Clough is a Senior Lecturer in the Information School at the University of Sheffield. He received a B.Eng. (hons) degree in Computer Science from the University of York in 1998 and a Ph.D. from the University of Sheffield in 2002. His research interests mainly revolve around developing technologies to assist people with accessing and managing information. Paul is co-author of a book on multilingual information retrieval and contributed to over 90 peer-reviewed publications.

Susan Farrell
Head of Web & Mobile Services, Information Services Division, University College London, UK
Susan Farrell is Head of Web & Mobile Services at UCL’sInformation Services Division, helping staff across UCL to build and manage their websites. Susan joined UCL in October 2011 following two years as a web consultant working with companies to help them optimise their web presence. Before that, she was Head of Web and Portal Services at King’s College London.

Charlie Hull
Managing Director, Flax
Charlie Hull runs Flax, specialists in all aspects of search technology based in Cambridge, U.K. Flax have been developing powerful search applications based on open source software for clients including The Financial Times, media monitors Gorkana, UK Government and Reed Specialist Recruitment since 2001. Charlie also runs the Cambridge Search Meetup and London Lucene/Solr Usergroup and regularly talks and writes on search-related subjects.

Agnes Molnar
CEO, Search Explained, Hungary
Agnes Molnar is an internationally-recognized expert in the fields of enterprise search, in-formation architecture, and Microsoft technologies. The author of many acclaimed books, Agnes regularly speaks at technical conferences throughout Europe, Asia, and North America, and has been recognized a Microsoft Most Valuable Professional since 2008.

Her passion for helping people understand the power and possibility of search has guided her career, during which she has consulted many of the world’s largest companies, government agencies, and NGO’s in over 30 countries.
Kristian Norling
Founder & CEO, Norling & Company


Kristian is a partner at IntraTeam - knowledge sharing and conferences about the digital workplace and intranets.  Previously, Kristian worked at Findwise and before that as an IT strategist and product owner of Enterprise Search at Region Västra Götaland. Kristian has been working with intranet and internet portals, websites and search in many different roles, each with its own challenges. Starting out as an non-techie communications officer, where the web was only one of many communication channels ending up as an IT strategist, working in the intersection of business, technology and communication. Always with a pragmatic and practical focus on the benefits of technology for people in the digital workplace.



Valentin Richter
CEO, Raytion GmbH
Valentin Richter is managing director and founder of Raytion, an internationally IT business consultancy focused on enterprise search. Prior to consulting Global 500 companies he worked for Trinkaus & Burkhardt, a private bank which is now owned by HSBC. Valentin has studied mathematics and information sciences.

Dr Tony Russell-Rose
Director, UXLabs, UK
Tony Russell-Rose began his career with a PhD investigating the use of statistical and knowledge-based language modelling techniques to improve the accuracy of handwriting recognition and information retrieval systems. He was then awarded a Royal Academy of Engineering fellowship to work at HP Labs on speech recognition interfaces to mobile devices and a further research fellowship to work at BT Labs on intelligent agents for information retrieval.
He then took up a post as Senior Research Scientist at Canon’s European R&D Centre, where he became Head of the Information Retrieval Group, leading a team developing next generation information access products and services. He was then appointed Leader of Language Technology at Reuters, responsible for establishing a global centre of excellence for NLP and leading the development of advanced search user interfaces and prototypes. After a period heading up the software development team at the Advanced Computation Lab of Cancer Research UK, he was approached by Oracle to lead their user experience consulting practice in Europe, where he also took on the role of editor of the Endeca UI Design Pattern Library.
He is now Director of UXLabs, a research and design consultancy specialising in complex search and information access applications and also Founder of 2dSearch, an AI startup combining ML, NLP and data visualization techniques to revolutionize the world of search and information retrieval.
